EP 106 | JUNE 17, 2025Planning for the EpochalypseIT teams deal with technology lifecycle issues all the time–including Y2K, which enterprises across the world grappled with for years. The Epochalypse, or Year 2038 Problem, is similar. Specifically, some Linux systems’ date-time counters will go from positive to negative at a specific date in 2038, potentially wreaking havoc on embedded systems and any other systems that haven’t been updated. EP 031 | JUNE 19, 2025When Is It Time For a Routing Protocol? If you need to route in your network, you can program static routes into all your routing-capable devices. And this can work. But at some point, you're probably going to want to switch to a dynamic routing protocol. On today's N Is For Networking, Ethan and Holly discuss the differences between static and dynamic routes, and when it's better to use one or the other. They also introduce several routing protocols currently used in networks today. Next week we begin a deeper dive into routing protocols, starting with OSPF. | LISTEN NOW |

Nile’s NXI Steers Toward the Self-Driving Network
I took a briefing from Nile on June 19, 2025. Here’s a summary of what I learned.
Nile is a Network as a Service vendor for campus networks. The company builds its own switches and APs and its own software to run on these network devices. It also provides DHCP and RADIUS services, and provides microsegmentation once the network is deployed. When working with a customer, Nile does the network design and ships the gear to the customer site. The customer can deploy the Nile gear or work with a partner for deployment and cabling. | READ NOW
